This page relates to how best hook up a surplus SKiiP module to an EV, using a STM32F103VBH6.
The SKiiP came with
- Case
- High current stuff (caps, bus bar etc.)
- 70pin vehicle loom adaptor (AMP/Tyco 1-962-526-1) AMP site
- Interface board (aux power supplies, drivers, buffers etc.)
- DSP board (Tricore DSP)
Q.1 How much of the existing packaging that came with the SKiiP should be reused?

- No objections with case + high current stuff.
- The DSP is toast meaning the interface board will then require massive rework.
- The loom connector is technically good IMO, but looks like it will be a pain for EV enthusiasts to source.
At the moment the plug gets a tick, the board gets a cross. For the existing users the connector can be salvaged to minimise loom rework. One new board to be designed/built to take SKiip or SKAI, STM32 and AMP plug, with ample headers and screw holes for future add ons/modifications.
Control Board Analysis
The board uses internal layers for routing so modifications will be very difficult.
I'll try to add datasheets collected thus far. Well, I started, but probably isn't good for bandwidth, for the moment here is a list of components. I'll find the links again later.
- B82790S513 EPCOS Data and Signal Choke - near the CAN transceiver for some reason. Will dig further later
- LTC3780 DC-DC converter - two of these, one large one, bulk of the caps etc, guessing for loom supply, one smaller for guessing SKiiP supply (1A 15/24V)
- MAX232A RS232 Driver - next to the programming header (unsurprisingly)
- MAX1044 Voltage doubler-inverter - mixed in with the Opamps - maybe for -ve temperature reading and -ve current reading
- MC74HCT00 Quad NAND Gate - near the ISO9141 driver chip.
- MC14504 Hex Level Shifter - buffers the 5V logic to 15V for the SKiiP 1H, 1L, 2H, 2L, 3H, 3L = 6 to shift. haven't traced but seems a good guess
- MC33199 ISO9141 Serial Link Driver NOT FOR NEW DESIGN - but still manufactured. For interfacing with OBD-II style tools. (Perhaps it reports rpm = 0?)
- OP27G Low Noise Op Amp - quite a few of these - 7, near the DSP header. Analog signals perhaps, current, bus voltage, temperature dc/dc volts at a guess.
- PCA82C250 CAN Transceiver - doesn't seem connected to the 70pin plug, but to a separate header?
- L9386 Dual Low Side Driver - drives the contactors (main and precharge, there are 4 so up to 8 outputs)
