Some rough estimates by assuming that we will have an energy use similar to ProEV and making use of some of their published data:

  • Race pace: 0.75 kWh/km
  • Road driving: 0.15 kWh/km

NZSC Series distances:

  • largest event is 9 laps of ~3km circuit = 27 km
  • Plus warmup lap = 30 km
  • Plus victory lap = 33 km.

Energy storage required (kWh):

  • Warmup: 3km x 0.15 = 0.45 (this might be an underestimate)
  • Race laps: 27km x 0.75 = 20.25
  • Victory lap: 3km x 0.15 = 0.45

Required usable battery capacity ~ 21.15 kWh

Being more generous with the warm up (e.g. 3km x 0.75): Required usable battery capacity ~ 22.95 kWh
